China’s rapidly evolving internet application technology is accelerating the development of an internet – commerce – centred ecosystem. To provide users with round – the – clock services, businesses must ensure the stable operation of their shopping websites, especially during peak events like the “Double 11” Shopping Festival. Thus, business continuity management (BCM) is gaining prominence across various industries, including e-commerce.
Over the past decade, BCM has been increasingly applied in large Chinese enterprises in sectors like finance and telecommunications. However, its use remains concentrated in a few key areas, with many other industries still lacking sufficient awareness of its importance for their survival and development. In fact, during major disasters such as the Wenchuan earthquake, 9/11, and Hurricane Katrina, numerous enterprises suffered irreparable losses due to the absence of BCM systems and plans.
On the other hand, as China’s social informatization index rises, technologies like cloud computing, big data, and AI are transforming our lives and work. Yet, they also expose us to growing cyber threats such as attacks, ransomware, and phishing. Ensuring organisational information security and business continuity in the face of these challenges is crucial. Disaster recovery (DR), being vital for achieving business continuity, makes researching DR technology advancements and sharing practical solutions and experiences across industries highly significant. It is commendable that Infinit, a long – time player in China’s DR field, has dedicated so much time and expert knowledge to create and share this DR technology white paper.
The Disaster Recovery International (DRI) is a non – profit academic body that promotes BCM/DR knowledge through professional training and certifies individuals in this field. As the head of DRI China, I have been involved in and witnessed the development of DR in various Chinese industries. I have offered BCM – based suggestions to many enterprises, emphasising its importance for DR. I am especially glad to collaborate with professional companies like Infinit, which specialise in DR product development and services and possess core DR technology. Together, we promote BCM and DR knowledge and applications across industries, helping enterprises prepare for emergencies and enhance their disaster – resistance capabilities. As the saying goes, “Be prepared and have no fear.”
This DR technology white paper, incorporating insights from various experts, offers comprehensive and professional content. In China, such systematic DR resources are rare, especially when freely available.
Since 2016, Infinit has consistently invested significant time in organising experts to compile this DR technology white paper, which is now selflessly shared with DR practitioners. This truly reflects Infinit’s担当 as a DR industry leader.
